The Folly in the Mist

Well after the atmospheric phenomena that had occurred up the Blorenge the day before I did not think I would have another opportunity at photographing a cloud inversion especially at my favourite local spot - the Pontypool Folly.

As I drove to Tescos in thick fog it suddenly cleared as I approached the supermarket car park and I looked up above Pontypool Park and it looked quite clear of the mist. I turned the steering wheel and changed course. I had the drone with me just in case I saw something good and so off I went to Pen-y-Garn and Trevethin.

Eventually at after driving up the steep incline of Folly Lane I reached where the Folly was. The mist was sweeping over the ridge and plunging down into the valley below. New Inn, Griffithstown, Little Mill, Mamhilad , Cwmbran and as far as you could see east and south were covered in a see of fog. The so called Dragons Breath covered the valley below in a blanket of dragon smoke.

It looked amazing and I was absolutely thrilled to be able to record it in photographs and videos using my drone.

It was freezing in the mist. I saw several people , one was running , another appeared out of the mist wearing shorts and a T-Shirt! An older gent strolled past me walking his dog and told me he loved it up the Folly - I agreed with him whole  heartedly.

I have put together a video below which I think shows off how spectacular it was up the Folly.
